Vision of Hope

I had been collecting items found along my daily walks. One day I was inspired to put them together in a series of three paintings. The theme evolved to one of vision. This was the first. I call it Vision of Hope because the image on the left side reminds me of a ladder. There is always hope of reaching higher.

I was experimenting with an encaustic technique using acrylic mediums. The process involves layers upon layers of paint and mediums embedding found objects. It's a lively way of painting - putting on paint with pallette knife and brushes, letting it dry, sanding it off, pouring a layer of medium on and letting it dry overnight. The results always make me giddy in the morning. The process would begin all over adding another layer each day until I was satisfied it was complete.
